This is not a trap! It is truly a peaceful attempt to host leaders of other nations to a supper party, and nothing else. Please do not derail this important event by byringing in demon hordes, conflicts from past lives or incarnations of TYW, or any retinue larger than your personal standing requires to attend you.

Was kind of hoping others might have joined this RP by now... don't fancy being the only nation to attend your little shin dig. Still, it has given a nice opportunity to advance my nation's chronology and introduce the next generation of characters.

Also an opportunity to create goodwill between our nations, which have historically...not really interacted in rp!

Sorry if I've been unclear, the only Matthias present is the Prince, and no other officials got in the car with him. All my references to the similiarity in appearance and dress between the Kaiser and Prince are because of the fame of Matthias XVII for his various policy revisions and the Jeianga dating scandal. In Scrivneria it is considered unseemly to send anyone not of a ruling house in a private vehicle with a member of a ruling house unless the accompanying person is a close personal companion (Thus, Ria or Kyle would be considered fine, but Trelane and Brunheimer would be downright rude).

Ah I see, fair enough. I figured your ruling leader would remain in the presence of my ruling leader when traveling. I'm sure the two will get a moment to discuss business later. I will amend my post accordingly.

Oh sorry! Matthias the Elder is at the Castle making sure everything is ready for your arrival. He sent his son both in order to keep up appearances so that a ruler does not attend on the child of a fellow ruler, and because he figured his son would make Esme better company. No worries mate.

I was just rereading some early parts of our thread and realized that Prince Matthias is entirely too old to be entertaining any thoughts about Esme or Ria. Hopefully my plot correction wasn't too heavy-handed?

I'm really glad that we have a running roleplay. If anyone wants to join the Aeternia rp just post here in the OOC and we'll work in a last-minute courier plot that gets you brought in to the party. After all, what fun is a party that goes perfectly as planned?

I am sure it wont go completely to plan... hence the addition of the CIC head in my delegation... bound to be something later, but for now I'm enjoying filling in the many gaps of my nation's history.

As for the plot correction, I'm interested to see how that pans out. The age gaps are not as great as you think, my people having shorter lifespans than the Scrivneri, and considerably shorter than the ruling family. There are some Elven decedents in the Commonwealth with extremely long life spans, but Esme is not among them... In the Commonwealth, by 12 Esme would be on the verge of adulthood, while Ria at 13 is already in full time employment. The average life expectancy is probably only about 50 to 55 years... my people certainly don't reach 100 unless they are related to Elves, of which there were never many.

Oh interesting! I had no idea the human lifespan was so short in the Commonwealth! It is going to be fun to see how the life expectancy differences play out.

The average life expectancy in Scrivneria is approximately 100. Royals have been documented to live up to 500 years since the time of Matthias IX. There are some among the nobility who have lived as long as 150 years, but they are restricted mostly to families of either long lineage or powerful magic users.

Actually, the life expectancy of the Rigolo family can not be calculated... most dying young from the not so natural causes. Only Beverly Rigolo of Tryanny and Elizebeth lived for any great length of time. The same could possibly be said for much of the Commonwealth as well... various wars and such have made it difficult to keep major characters alive for long!

In general though the population does indeed have a particularly short natural lifespan, which I attribute to the equatorial location of my nation on the map and climate. Mostly though I have always based the Commonwealth's culture and ideals on early industrial Britain as opposed to the modern world... exaggerating in some cases and ignoring others completely, then putting in modern and even near future technology as various role plays required.

Makes sense really. Scrivneria is being played as a sword and sorcery civilization that evolved like I imagine Europe might have if it hadn't been torn apart twice by global-scale wars. So while there are wizards around, the advent of modern technology has made them much more reclusive than they used to be. That and modern conveniences make overt magical forces considerably less necessary.

Can't wait to see where things head next!

And yes, Kyle's "other staff" is on alert about the CIC head. If nothing else, I'm thinking the two of them might have a sit down to figure out rules of friendly exchange kind of like MI6 and the CIA did once upon a day.

Much as I had expected... The intel aspect will no doubt stir things up later... there are a lot of cards in this deck that have yet to be played.

and of course the bad omen from the goddess of luck makes just about anything possible.

A special note: The Helm Justice and the sword Victory have been corrected in the post describing the Kaiser in his formal garb. I had initially named the Helm "Honor" and the sword "Justice" but this was not in keeping with the canon of Scrivneria's history. (By which I mean my backfile of things related to the 'Rift in the Ancient Kingdom' roleplay)

Fair enough... I've been checking and updating my file of all things for the Commonwealth as well. Will use it later to update the NSWiki pages.

I have of course retrieved rps from the previous forum now, but many before that are long since lost. Particularly those from the early creation of the Commonwealth, which told so eloquently how the nation came into being.

One thing I'd forgotten for instance was that Esme's mother Michelle had a brother named Marcus Rigolo... who's disappearance from the nations history books has not yet been explained... I'll probably take the easy option and blame the Makaarians, but it is somewhat curious that i had forgotten a fair chunk of my nations history.
