Well it's been so long since we've had a nation-centric rp. I'm amazed we still have what we do! _________________ [ With my seal and blessing -Scrivneria, Grand Master |

Very true... I do hope more will follow soon. I do prefer writing about my nation in rps because there is so much depth that can be found. When creating the background for a nation you can literally create anything within the bounds of reality and more besides if you choose.
By way of background story, I have somewhere written out a rough history of my nation dating back to the founding of the YoungWorld at its very beginning to through the evolution of several small nations into the creation of the Commonwealth, including wars, leadership changes and even the development of politics and laws. _________________

for clarity on the obscure medieval instrument I mentioned
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organistrum

The instrument is actually available in a variety of sizes, because they're not sure exactly how it was made back then. It's a predecessor of the modern Hurdy-Gurdy and pretty darn cool in my book. _________________ [ With my seal and blessing -Scrivneria, Grand Master |

A brief tweak to last night's post - I added a bit where the Kaiser explains the safety o going into the magic...because he would be aware that some people would be completely baffled by such a display. _________________ [ With my seal and blessing -Scrivneria, Grand Master |

Yes, the whole idea of the guilds was to encourage IC role playing, as well as debates on other parts of the forum. They have been in use for longer than I have been in TYW... They just didn't feature in the last forum because people were allowed to make up their own guilds at random, which in my opinion killed off role playing on the forum. The Great Forum wars were between Guilds, not just nations. _________________

Aha! I've put up a primary reply, I imagine that any further negotiation will require some manner of permanent assurance from the Commonwealth and broader Assassin organization. Which could become quite interesting really and lead to some interesting developments in the Mexihco/Commonwealth wedding thread. _________________ [ With my seal and blessing -Scrivneria, Grand Master |

Very true... I think a full negotiation between the Knights and the Assassins would make for a good Role Play at some point in the future, which could end up with either both guilds getting along, or them going to war again... could go either way. I don't think it should be done in this RP, or the wedding RP, but I think during the wedding RP it would be interesting to build up some political tension, just in the background, between Scrivneria and the Commonwealth over the whole Knights/Assassins issue. Then we can lead into a Negotiation RP later.
The wedding RP is Mexihco's first real attempt at RPing on here, and it was his idea, so I don't want to mess around with it too much.
Going back to your last post... I should point out that while the guilds are a part of role plays, as they always have been here, anything directly NS related is not, including the delegate. For the purpose of Role Playing, space is as much an undiscovered mystery as it is on Earth... Satellites and shuttles are about as intergalactic as we have ever gone... There was a RP a couple of years back I remember about a multi nation space race, where a few nations launched ships into space, but the RP was lost with one of the old forums, and those playing decided just to say that the ships had been lost in space. _________________

I have tweaked my last IC post to remove the NS World Assembly body. There were several roleplays involving interplanetary travel at one point because of all the space tech available in the old forum stores, but I think most of that activity was either Shrew and myself or considered non-TYW canon due to the AstroEmpires involvement of the nations playing?
It seems like we have two IC options, we can move toward an Esme/Matthias pairing that would pit our younger generations pushing for peace against the more paranoid older regimes, or they can follow the advice of the older generation and tensions can continue to escalate. I'd be interested in pursuing either option for the story, though the first seems significantly more fun. _________________ [ With my seal and blessing -Scrivneria, Grand Master |

Yes, I like the first idea as well... the majority of the Commonwealth are still very much of the old regime, some even more so that others, and I think this new generation, like most young generations, should rebel against the old and aim for peace.
Along those lines, the death of Esme's parents has started an internal background story in this RP involving extremist ideas, which I intend to take further in the Wedding RP.
As for the intergalactic RPs... I don't think I ever read any of those, and as you say, they were never included in the cannon anyway. I decided to quit AE last month... I got bored of being farmed by BORG, and constantly having my fleets destroyed because I couldn't keep up with the blob movements. _________________
