January Update

This will be a new monthly feature to be written by the elected Delegate. A copy is to be included on the region notice board, and on Facebook. It is to be a comprehensive report on all happenings around The YoungWorld for everyone to read, and help promote the region to new people. Comments in this thread are welcomed are welcomed. A copy is also to be sent out to all our embassies in other regions by our Ambassadors where possible.

2012 has kicked off to a fantastic start in The YoungWorld, with plenty going on behind the scenes to make improvements to our NationStates region and everything linked to it. Winternalia seasonal celebrations were concluded, although some of the role plays will continue, and celebrations were held for the Chinese New Year. We all hope that the year of the Dragon, a favourite in The YoungWorld, will prove to be a prosperous one for all.

Delegate Elections

January saw the first Delegate Election of 2012, with current Delegate Darkest Souls running for re-election against Scrivneria and Fort Europe. Scrivneria withdrew from the election during its early stages, leaving Fort Europe to defeat Darkest Souls by four votes to two. Fort Europe has now taken the position of Delegate, and all members are encouraged to endorse Fort Europe.

Only 6 of the 24 member nations registered on the forum voted in this election. This figure is extremely disappointing.

NationStates

The YoungWorld welcomed back Lasting this month. Lasting was a member of The YoungWorld during its early days, but left in 2005. In returning Lasting has also convinced his two daughters to join The YoungWorld as well.

Following a discussion on the forum, a message was sent to the Delegate of Galts Gulch to propose that our two regions merge. Galts Gulch are now a largely inactive region with only a few active members remaining, much the same as The YoungWorld. However, Galts Gulch have not used their region forum since early 2010. Our proposal includes use of The YoungWorld forum and the possiblity for all Galts Gulch members to move to The YoungWorld if they wish to be more active in future.

The World Fact Book Entry was updated by Darkest Souls this month.

Recruitment

Recruitment has been slow this month with only two new nations arriving in the region. Niether nation has been active since moving to The YoungWorld, nor have they registered on the forum.

Recruitment was conducted this month by Darkest Souls and Fort Europe. All members of The YoungWorld who play NationStates are encouraged to send out recruitment messages when ever possible.

Four nations ceased to exist in January.

The YoungWorld Defence Force

The departure of Sir Lans from the region has left the Defence Force inactive in January. Requests for a member to fill the position as Head of The YoungWorld Defence Force have not yet received any replies. If you would like to fill this position, please make yourself known.

The YoungWorld Defence Force currently occupy 0 NationStates Warzones.

Website

Many thanks must go to Dark Miyte for his work to redesign and improve upon The YoungWorld Website. The site now boasts a new background an textures which make it brighter and more welcoming for all who look at it. The YoungWorld Forum, NationStates region page and NSWiki page can be accessed from the website. There is also an instant message feature and you can chat with Jester about all manner of subjects.

Forum

The YoungWorld Forum has been disappointingly quite in January, with only four active members posting regularly. Four other members have logged in and posted one or two messages, and two members have logged in without posting.

There are currently two active Role Plays which have been added to this month. These are 'Aeternia Re-Opened' and 'Winternalia'. One new Role Play has been created this month named 'The House of Cards', however this Role Play has been put on hold due to the temporary absence of one or more participating members. Four other Role Plays are inactive.

Facebook

The YoungWorld Facebook page has been moderately active in January with updates and messages being posted by six different members. One new member was added to the Facebook Group this month.

Next Month

In February The YoungWorld aims to complete negotiations with Galts Gulch, to install a new Head of The YoungWorld Defence Force and to recruit a target figure of 5 new NationStates members and 1 New Forum member.

In February The YoungWorld expects to debate at least one regional embassy request, to improve upon activity levels on the Forum, and to update the region's World Fact Book Entry.
