I have been wandering around the internet in my boredom reading up on odd pieces of historical information. As you do and thought why not post some on here as a bit of food for thought and dicussion.
In 18th Century Britain, you could take out insurance against going to hell.
I didnt think this could be true so i researched it and its looking pretty viable. Was the concept of insurance even around then and how was it going to stop you going to hell? _________________ - A gem is not polished without rubbing, nor a man perfected without trials- |

The concept of insurance has been around for thousands of years, where peasents would pay land owners to protect them and their homes from raiders. Payments would be made in the forms of monetary taxes, goods or skills. I think it is highly likely that many people throughout history could be conned into paying insurance money to protect them from their worst fears, however rediculous they may sound... even today people take out insurance against their own lives incase the worst should happen.
Historical Fact...
Contrary to popular belief, the first computers were in fact used by the Germans during World War Two... Although it would be difficult to recognise the machines as a computer, they did use the binary language to process data. The computers were used by the Germans to manage concentration camps, and almost all examples were destroyed. What is even more remarkable, was that these computers were built by IBM! _________________
